Bangkok Drag Avenue: Thailand's Quarter-Mile Strip

Bangkok Drag Avenue, known locally as Klong 5, is one of Thailand's few venues built purely for straight-line speed. The country has plenty of circuit tracks, but a proper quarter-mile drag strip is rare, and Bangkok Drag Avenue fills that gap. Drivers come from across the region to run the full 402-meter course against professional timing gear and collect an official time slip.

Race Nights: Test-and-Tune and Bracket Racing

The venue runs regular test-and-tune nights, where anyone can pay per run and clock a real quarter-mile time. It also holds organized bracket racing across several classes. These range from street cars on road tires to high-horsepower pro builds with drag slicks and roll cages. Motorcycle drag racing features on select evenings, including the famous 125cc scooters that are shockingly quick off the line.

Japanese tuner cars dominate the starting line. Expect turbocharged Supras, Silvias, and Civics, with the occasional European or American muscle car in the mix. This is grassroots drag racing in Bangkok at its rawest, and the spread of classes means there is a run for every level of driver.

Getting There: Klong 5, Pathum Thani

The course sits in Khlong Luang, Pathum Thani, off the Rangsit to Nakhon Nayok road, north of the city. From central Bangkok the drive takes about 30 to 45 minutes, depending on traffic. There is parking on site, and the spectator entry fee is cheap. Drivers pay a separate fee for each pass down the track. Race days rotate through the year, so check the dragbangkok page for the current schedule before you go. Weekend evenings are the busiest time to watch.

What to Expect as a Spectator

For anyone into motorsport, BDA shows a side of drag racing in Thailand that most travel guides skip. The atmosphere is loud, hot, and genuine, thick with the smell of burnt rubber. It is a world away from the polished supercar spots of central Bangkok. If you want the real Thai car scene at its fastest, this is where to find it. For more of the local scene, browse our Thailand car culture directory or the full list of car meets and tracks. Fans of circuit racing can also read about Thailand Circuit in Nakhon Chai Si.

Renn Driver's Take

Go on a weekend night to catch the strip at full tilt. Check the dragbangkok Instagram for the schedule first, since race days vary. Bring ear protection and expect a mix of serious racers and casual test runs. Do not be surprised when a 125cc scooter out-drags something with four times the engine. It is one of the most honest corners of Thai car culture.
